  We were intrigued by this cute establishment to go for a visit. We waited for 10 minutes in line before our order was taken and paid for. We then waited around for 15 minutes for two of the lunch orders to come out, of which one was incorrect. The waitress actually said "that's not what you ordered was it? she then added, will it be okay though?" I had my order returned for correct order. In the meantime another of the four orders arrived around 5 minutes later. My husbands arrived around 5 minutes after the second correct order. I then had to stand up and ask for mine. Five other orders had still gone out before mine. I finally received a disgraceful sandwich, oily chicken , carrot which is used for garnishing the salads, almost as if a 5 year old put it together. The wrap was very sad indeed, however the hardest item to cook ( chicken parmigiana ) was quite nice. To even try and reason with the owners daughter, was like talking to a student from high school. Maybe Mummy needs to pull this one up for attitude. When I did try and reason as in have her see it from our ( customers) point of view, she opened the till and passed money over. Sorry Miss some of us have principals and you definetley need to learn some. One being that your state of being nonchalant would be on the backs of your parents hard earned money that employs you. Perhaps a little education in hospitality, unfortunately all too many jobs are given on a it's not what you know, but who you know that counts.

  We stayed overnight and also ate twice at the Settlers House. Booked without any issues online and visited for one night on a Saturday. We arrived an hour early, but were given room keys without any problems. I asked for a room near my friend and they were happy to oblige. The room i was given had not had any housekeeping so when I went back to reception they just gave me the key to another room.
  
  Now the accommodation is at the more budget end of pricing so I think it's always important to manage expectations. My room certainly wasn't flash, but it was clean, roomy, with a tv, aircon/heater and en suite bathroom. No problems at all, got a good nights sleep too.
  
  Now, we were taking part in a local cycling event and asked to have a late checkout, and they agreed to let us stay for showers free of charge.
  
  We ate two lunches at the venue, which was lovely to have log fires in this June chill. First meal I had the bangers and mash, sausages were good, mash plentiful, would have been nice to get an extra sausage, but I didn't ask for one! Day two I had the carbonara pasta which was a little rich and also a bit tasteless. The mushrooms were cut into strangely massive chunks. Service was at the bar and it was polite and full of energy.
  
  Would visit again. The place isn't pretentious, it certainly isn't perfect but it is more than fit for purpose, and every time I spoke to the manager about any issue she was quick to resolve without any qualms.

  Absolutely fantastic! Warm, inviting service , and the staff were more than happy to mix things up to accommodate our dietary requirements. Food was brilliant and very affordable ......will be back for sure
